Creation in Uncertainty
In this transition from summer to fall, I’ve been feeling pressure to make some big decisions about my priorities and my work schedule. But I haven’t had any clarity yet. So I’ve tried to just sit in the mess of it all. And with each passing day, I should feel more pressure.
But instead I’ve been reminding myself that uncertainty is where creation lives.
When I give myself time to sit in uncertainty, what I’m really doing is allowing space for the possibility of something new to emerge - perhaps a creative solution I haven’t thought of yet or a compromise I wouldn’t have found if I rushed the process.
Some of my best ideas or most useful tools have arrived in the space I have given myself to not force a decision just to have a resolution. Knowing is great - knowing yourself and what you want and what you don’t want. But not knowing can be even better - it offers the opportunity to explore and find out.
Whatever you’re facing this week, know that it’s okay to be uncertain. It’s a necessary part of the human experience.
