Touching Nature from the Inside
I’ve traded the 100 degree scorching heat of LA for cool north winds and sightings of the Northern Lights for the next few days.
I’m writing to you from the place I grew up, Chambers Island in Door County, Wisconsin. It’s an island with dirt roads and no electricity and about 50 cabins set in an idyllic northern forest with the waters of Lake Michigan lapping along the shore.
Coming back to my natural home reminds me of this quote from Carl Jung:
"Whenever we touch nature we get clean. People who have got dirty through too much civilization take a walk in the woods, or a bath in the sea. Entering the unconscious, entering yourself through dreams, is touching nature from the inside and this is the same thing, things are put right again."
