Living Through the Fire

If you’ve been going through it lately, this week's newsletter is for you. Maybe you've been really busy, or the energy of your life has felt particularly intense, or you're experiencing unprecedented challenges or major transition. It can feel overwhelming and exhausting. How do we motivate ourselves to keep showing up?

As humans we’ve learned to tell stories as a way to understand ourselves and others for thousands of years. When we face challenge, we can help ourselves through it by building a narrative: whatever you have been going through is molding you into the next version of who you're going to be. This difficult time is preparing you with tough lessons to build the skills you'll need in the next phase of your existence.

Now I'm not someone who believes that everything happens for a reason. Horrible, shitty, traumatic things happen to people every day for no reason at all.

Still, we can choose to believe that while not everything happens for a reason, every experience is an opportunity to learn. When we choose to remain open to the present, to remain soft even when life gets tough, we emerge from challenge a changed person. We grow.

Remember, calm seas may bring you peace, but storms are where you’ll find your power.
