Better At Feeling

A few years ago, I got in the habit of asking clients a certain question that changed the way I work with people.

What do you feel?

Now I ask it after almost every exercise, because I learn so much about what is happening inside the human body when I take the time to ask. If the point of a hip bridge is to engage the hamstrings and glutes, but someone can only feel their quads, that can expose a lot about how their body recruits strength or what pattern their body might be in. I recently heard something that redefined how I think about the work I do:

“You’re not there to make someone feel better, but to make them better at feeling” - Gabor Maté

My goal with all of my offerings, from in person and online classes to training private clients and hosting special events and leading retreats, is to help people discover the space inside of themselves to feel. I reveal the patterns in the body and nervous system that keep people feeling chronically tight, closed down, or in pain and shine the light of awareness and breath into that space.

When you join me on a retreat, you enter an unfamiliar environment where you open the door to discover where you’ve boxed yourself into patterns in your everyday life. If you want to feel more, to expand your awareness inside your body and heart, consider joining me in Guatemala next winter.

If you signed up for my VIP presale, you received an email this morning with a registration link and a promo code for $500 off the total cost of the trip. If you didn’t sign up for the presale, look out for details about my early bird special coming at the start of June.
