Where I’ve Been and Where I’m Going
I spent the last week studying with the legendary Jill Miller through her Body by Breath immersion.
I’ve learned so many techniques for breathing and self massage that I can’t wait to use in my group classes, as well as one on one (if you’re a private client, get ready to receive some super yummy sessions). But most importantly, this training has only furthered my understanding of the significance of breath to everything in our lives.
As Jill Miller says, “Your breath is the link between your conscious and unconscious minds.” In fact, your breathing muscle, the diaphragm, is controlled by the phrenic nerve. “Phrenic” is defined as relating to the diaphragm or relating to the mind. This nerve creates a simultaneous registration of mental and breathing processes.
In other words, mind and body are not separate. They are congruent. And that congruency is created by the breath.
GUATEMALA RETREAT 2024
I’m beyond excited to announce my next yoga retreat for winter 2024 at Lake Atitlán in Guatemala.
Seven nights and eight days February 10 to February 17 at a lakefront eco-friendly retreat center perched on the shores of Lake Atitlán, a 50 square mile crater lake, surrounded by majestic volcanoes and Mayan villages. Soak up lake life off the beaten path with daily yoga practice, opportunities for adventure (think volcano hiking, cliff diving, kayaking, and ziplining), and visits to local artisan towns and a women’s weaving cooperative.
The energetic vortex in this area is palpable, and we’ll journey into ourselves with ceremony, self massage, and yoga nidra. If you're as excited about this retreat as I am, I hope you will consider joining me on what is sure to be a magical and life changing week in Guatemala next winter. I already can't wait!
