Pride, Not Shame
"Regret for things we did is tempered by time. But regret for things we did not is inconsolable." My grandfather Sydney J. Harris, the Chicago journalist known for his syndicated column "Strictly Personal," is credited with that piece of wisdom.
While writing last week's newsletter, I was overwhelmed with a feeling of pride for the things I have built and upheld over the past year, like our Patreon where I share new YouTube yoga classes every week and teach weekly Zoom classes, as well as this newsletter, which you can now find archived on my website blog.
I am so thankful and honestly shocked that y'all are still riding with me, showing up for class, and reading this newsletter. When we put something out into the world, there is no guarantee of audience, that it will be received, watched, or read. And fearing an echo of emptiness can keep us from even creating anything in the first place.
So this is a big step for me, to be writing you that I'm proud, proud of what I've built and the consistency with which I've maintained it. Proud that you all care about what I make.
Though my creations are not perfect, I would rather sit with that imperfection than the regret of not creating at all.
