Light Over the Water

Feeling low? Me too.

The start of the new year is not the shiny, exciting, motivated time many people make it out to be.

If you’re in a dark spot at the moment, know that it will pass. Most everything in life is temporary.

When I’m down, I like to turn to this excerpt from David Whyte’s poem “The Opening of Eyes”:

That day I saw beneath dark clouds

the passing light over the water

and I heard the voice of the world speak out,

I knew then, as I had before

life is no passing memory of what has been

nor the remaining pages in a great book

waiting to be read.

It is the opening of eyes long closed.

Mostly it reminds me that when we look out into nature, we see something good. Something that reminds us why we’re here. It opens our eyes again.
