What Do You Grow In?
As we wade deeper into the first few weeks of the new year, and we must face how to integrate new habits, resolutions, and goals into our actual day to day lives, I’m reminded of this adage:
When a flower doesn’t bloom, you fix the environment it grows in, not the flower.
If you’re struggling to implement something new, to achieve a goal, or maintain a habit, nothing is inherently wrong with you, a flower of a living being. Perhaps it is time to question the conditions in which you have tried to make change: how have you supported yourself in your endeavors? Have you slept and fueled yourself, have you hydrated, have you spoken kind words and allowed yourself to rest? Have you eased back on other commitments, said no to protect your energy? Have you asked for support or accountability from someone close?
This is a loving reminder to offer yourself sunlight and water and fertilizer and to check your soil conditions for optimal growing conditions.
