Wild, Unknown Future

I don’t do New Year’s resolutions. But I do believe in setting intentions.

This is from poet Maggie Smith:

”Think hard about what you want out of this year, next year, and into the wild, unknown future. Name those things. Give them language. Write them down as a way of holding yourself accountable - not for achieveing them, but for trying. Commit to trying. Keep moving.”

Today I made a ritual of this naming. I made a cup of tea and lit a candle. I set a timer for 10 minutes and called into my life what I am seeking. I gave language to what electrifies me and builds toward what it is I want and need from this world.

If you‘re looking for a way to create meaning and direction in your life over the next year, set a timer, pick up a pen, and give language to what you seek.
